The premiere of the Roooam chair took place at the French auction house Drouot.
While this is its first official appearance in the wide world, it transitioned from my mind into the physical realm back in the summer.
This is a series of objects that convey my personal reflections. Yet, the act of remembering and living through the past is a universal experience, inherent to every human being.
At the heart of the project lies the memory of my father, who called himself a Cossack.
In the Cossack tradition, defined by constant movement and campaigns, a pillow often replaced a chair, becoming the sole island of comfort. During shared travels, it was that very pillow that served as the physical connection to home—a piece of home one could always carry along.
Roooam is an attempt to transform the fragile ephemerality of memory into the eternal strength of metal. What was once soft and vulnerable is now tempered by time and remembrance.
It is a tribute to the Cossack spirit of freedom and, simultaneously, a deep personal gratitude to my father—a man who was a home in himself. 💔
